Kaz Hudson is a versatile guitarist committed to expanding the voice of classical guitar. He often performs in both solo and chamber settings, performing on both acoustic and electric guitars. He also frequently collaborates with composers to write new music for the guitar. Determined to take the guitar to its limits, Kaz traverses through genre and tradition, fueling deeply personal musical experiences for audiences to enjoy.

BIOGRAPHY

Kaz Hudson is a versatile guitarist known for his expressive depth, stylistic range, and commitment to expanding the voice of classical guitar. Equally at home on acoustic and electric guitars, Kaz explores a wide array of musical traditions while keeping classical guitar at the center of his artistry.Kaz’s performances have been featured by organizations such as the Peninsula Guitar Series, the Lowry Foundation, and NPR’s From the Top. He has received numerous top prizes, including first prize at the James Stroud Classical Guitar Competition and all three divisions of the Denver Guitar Festival Competition. A passionate chamber musician, Kaz was the first guitarist ever accepted into the Yellow Barn Young Artists Program, where he collaborated with composers and performed on both classical and electric guitar.Kaz began his studies in Colorado with Mike Hyland and Jonathan Leathwood while developing a broad musical background in jazz combos, wind ensembles, choirs, and pit orchestras. He is currently pursuing a Bachelor of Music degree at the San Francisco Conservatory of Music studying with Meng Su.Kaz’s eclectic musical upbringing continues to shape his approach to performance and programming. He regularly collaborates with composers, engages with genres including jazz, folk, rock, and choro, and brings a distinct voice to both traditional and contemporary repertoire. Shaped by his diverse musical experiences, he seeks to create performances that are deeply personal, genre-conscious, and emotionally resonant.
